Rack Plating and Barrel Plating Processes

Dipsol offers several chemistries for zinc rack plating and barrel plating.

NZ-98 Alkaline Non-Cyanide Zinc Barrel & Rack Plating System

NZ-98 is an OEM-approved alkaline non-cyanide zinc brightener process. It is ideal for both barrel and rack plating applications and readily accepts clear and black trivalent chromium passivates. NZ-98 provides excellent throwing power for uniform plating over complex geometries as well as a wide range of current densities, temperature, and zinc metal concentrations. It is approved for the GMW3044 zinc plating specification.

NZ-300 Alkaline Non-Cyanide Zinc Barrel & Rack Plating System

Like NZ-98, NZ-300 is part of Dipsol’s alkaline non-cyanide zinc brightener process line. It offers all of the superior throwing power and wide operating range of NZ-98 while also being compatible with clear and black trivalent passivates and topcoat systems to meet additional corrosion, appearance, and friction requirements.

Z-4000 Acid Zinc Barrel & Rack Plating System

Z-4000 is a zinc plating system provides a bright appearance with good plating distribution over a wide operating temperature range. It is a concentrated, water-soluble, free-rinsing, two-part additive system that lowers your metal consumption and chemical operating costs without sacrificing quality or coverage. It is an ideal choice for high-strength steels and ferrous castings.

IZA-2500 Acid Zinc Nickel Rack & Barrel Plating System 12–17%

IZA-2500 is the ideal finish for automotive applications, including brake calipers and hardened steel components. It exceeds major OEM corrosion, thermal, and functional requirements to provide high plating efficiency and excellent adhesion directly over ferrous castings and difficult metallic substrates. IZZA-2500 provides consistent plating distribution of 12 to 17 percent across a wide current density range. It is compatible with black trivalent chromium conversion coatings and topcoats and sealer systems.

TC-21 Clear-Blue Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coating for Zinc

TC-21 Clear-Blue is a trivalent chromium conversion coating system that is hexavalent chromium-free. It provides good corrosion resistance in both acid and alkaline zinc and alkaline zinc-iron rack and barrel plating applications. It maintains a consistent clear to blue color after baking and is RoHS and ELV compliant.

ZT-444 Clear Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coating for Zinc

ZT-444 is a trivalent chromium conversion coating that exceeds major OEM corrosion and functional requirements in both acid and alkaline zinc and alkaline zinc-iron barrel and rack plating applications. It has exceptional tolerance to zinc and iron contaminates and a high surface area yield-to-consumption ratio. As a result, ZT-444 offers an extended bath life and lower operating costs. It is approved for GMW3044 and VW TL217.

IZ-264 Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coating for Zinc Nickel

IZ-264 is a trivalent chromium conversion coating that is uniquely formulated to provide a thin film barrier layer at 4.0–4.4 pH and room temperature, greatly diminishing the buildup of zinc and iron contaminates that cause poor appearance and corrosion resistance. IZ-264 is approved for multiple automotive and aerospace OEMs, including GMW4077 Type B, VW TL244, and Boeing BAC 5637 and 5680.

ZTB-447 Black Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coating for Zinc and Zinc-Iron

ZTB-447 is a black trivalent chromium conversion coating for zinc and zinc-iron applications. It consistently provides extended solution life over a wide variety of part types, including fasteners, tubular products, and stampings. ZTB447 provides a black appearance that can be enhanced by the ZTB-118X trivalent chromium sealer. It is OEM-approved for GMW3044 and VW TL217.

ZTB-118X Sealer for Black Trivalent Chromium Conversion Coatings

ZTB-118X is a trivalent chromium sealer for use over black trivalent conversion coatings. It is suitable for a wide variety of parts, including fasteners, stampings, casting, and tubular components.
